Clients Rights and Responsibilities

If you wish to be a participant of the Business Development Service Center, RIM you have the right to expect the following services as part of the consulting engagement.

  • Short Courses at No Fee Charge – All short courses reflected in the BDSC Calendar are free and are provided with no fee charges to you. The BDSC program is supported through funding from the Department of Employment, MoLHR. However, Fees charges may apply for certain training programs, special services, materials, and publications. If any fees are applicable, you will be notified in advance.
  • Confidentiality of Information Provided – All BDSC trainers, consultants and faculties are bounded by the RIM Academic Standards of Professional Ethics and Conflict of Interest Policy. All BDSC trainers, consultants and faculties agree to abide by the RIM Academic Standards of Professional Ethics and Conflict of Interest Policy. Information you provide will be held in strictest confidence. No information will be released to any individual or entity outside of the BDSC network without your consent. No information you provide will be used for the commercial advantage of any BDSC member or by any entity.
  • Exceptions – It is requiredthat information about the BDSC’s service delivery is reported in aggregate to the DoE and if required to the general public. No specific information about you or anyone else will be released without prior consent. The BDSC will report or provide information in aggregate about you & your business such as demographic statistics; size, location, age and industry of your business; the general nature of your engagement with the BDSC; and impact statistics such as financing obtained, sales increased or jobs created.
  • If you were referred to the BDSC, the BDSC will notify the referrer that you have sought assistance from the BDSC. The BDSC, however, will not disclose in detail the nature of the assistance you are requesting unless you provide consent to do so.
  • Unbiased Recommendations – To avoid any conflict of interest and complications arising thereafter, the BDSC trainer, consultant or faculty will not knowingly recommend the purchase of goods or services from any individual or firm with which any BDSC official has a financial, family or personal interest.
  • Non-Disclosure of Trade Secrets – Sensitive trade secrets pertaining to unique facts of your business will not be used to benefit another client of the BDSC or any BDSC official. The understanding of sensitive trade secret information is information which is not obvious, which is unknown, or which is unique and pertains to new inventions, secret manufacturing and processing procedures or formulas, or any new innovative process. You should understand that it is your responsibility to inform the BDSC of any such sensitive trade secrets both verbally and in writing.
  • Assistance, Guidance, and Education – The BDSC program is an educational program. The BDSC will work with you on your specific issues to help build your management skills and knowledge. It is your responsibility to accept and implement recommendations. The BDSC will not negotiate on your behalf, write your business plan, or act as an employee of your business.
