Management
A board of directors appointed by the royal government
of Bhutan governs the institute. A chairamn selected from
the board members leads the board, while the director of
the institute serves as the member-secretary. The director
is responsible for the day-to-day management and administration.
STRUCTURE
In order to align the institutional capacity and performance
towards its strategic direction and to render focused attention
towards the identified programme activities, the organization
structure of RIM is formulated as below:

- DMD – Department
of Management Development have two centres namely, Legal
Studies and Management Development;
- DICT – Department
of Information & Communications Technology;
- DFB – Department
of Finance and Business have a Centre for Private Sector
Development
DESCRIPTION OF THE NEW STRUCTURE
The following section explains the changes
incorporated in the new organization structure of the RIM.
Policy / Management
The Board of Directors headed by a Chairman
appointed by the Royal Government shall provide leadership,
policy and strategic directions to the Institute. The Board
shall be supported by the Secretariat headed by a Director
of RIM appointed by the Royal Government. The Director shall
be responsible for the day-to-day management and administration
of the Institute and formulation of strategic policy proposals
for consideration by the Board. A Policy & Planning/Communication
Unit shall support the Director. A Chief Planning Officer
shall head the Unit.
The Structure
Besides the PPU and Academic Advisory Committee,
the structure is broadly divided into two functional areas
viz. Programme and the Support Services. The Programme shall
be responsible for the discharge of academic services. The
Support Services shall support the Programme and be responsible
for the general management, administration and provision
of learning resource facilities.
Programme
The academic services of the Institute shall be developed
and delivered through its three departments namely:
- Department of Management Development
- Department of Finance and Business
- Department of Information and Communications Technology
While the earlier programme units were
labeled as Centres, in the new structure, the proposal is
to merge the centres within the three departments. This
is to provide focus of the programmes based on their broad
grouping and specialization. A Department may however have
the option of reviving some of the centres under its administrative
jurisdiction to meet certain specialized programme needs.
For example, the Centre for Management Development and Centre
of Legal Studies are retained under the Department of Management
Development; and the Centre for Private Sector Development
is retained under the Department of Finance and Business. |
