Damber S. Kharka

Damber S. Kharka comes from Tshokana, Tsirang, Bhutan. He graduated in 1987 with Bachelors degree in Commerce from Sherubtse College, Delhi University. In 1988 he joined the Royal Institute of Management as a management trainee upon completion of his one-year course in Administrative Management at the Royal Institute of Management, Bhutan. Initially he worked as Finance officer and after completing his Masters in Economics from the University of New Brunswick, Canada, he joined the faculty team of the institute.

He had served in different positions such as Coordinator of regular program, Head of Research and Consultancy and the Head of Center for Private Sector Development in RIM besides his teaching job. He had also attended several Economics and Management training programs in different countries. He received a Certificate of distinction from the Statistical Institute for Asia and Pacific in Japan (an UNDP Organization) in a three-month Training of Trainer’s Course in Automatic Data Processing in 1998.

His areas of specialization include Managerial Economics, Privatization, Project Management and Finance. He had developed and directed several demand driven courses in different areas of economics and management and had engaged himself in several consultancy services and research in Private and Public sector organization. He had also contributed substantially in the development and implementation of administrative management system of RIM. He remains credited for his contribution of papers at the national and international conferences and publications. He is keenly interested in teaching management subjects that require quantitative ability. He has wide experiences in Training Need Assessment, Curriculum Development, Training Material Preparation and Training Delivery. He enjoys working in team on any training/research oriented jobs with national and international professionals. Conversion of subject knowledge in practical problem solving in management is his key strength.

Presently he is one of the core faculty members of Department of Business and Finance.
