Foreword

It gives me immense pleasure that the Royal Institute of Management has come up with its first magazine – Zinchong Rigphel to promote the dissemination of the management knowledge and practices besides enhancing awareness on the Institute itself. The launching of this magazine coincides with the beginning of the 9th Five Year Plan of the country’s development in which the Institute has a vital role to play in the implementation of the country’s HRD needs and in providing management expertise towards enhancing overall institutional strengthening process.

The Institute envisages becoming a premier management Institute in the country renowned for management development and for the promotion of innovative approaches and practices. Towards such vision, the Institute, besides conducting training courses, should also undertake research and development activities on a continuous basis in relevant management areas, disseminate the findings and provide inputs, wherever necessary, in the decision making process.

While the Institute has already initiated research works in the management development areas, RIM Magazine could serve as one of the useful media for the Institute towards educating and keeping the people better informed on management knowledge and practices.

I would also like to take this opportunity of urging all academicians and practitioners to consider contributing articles to the RIM Magazine. Such initiatives would create greater awareness of management knowledge and practices, promote sharing of inter-organizational management practices, encourage documentation of useful materials and case studies, and even contribute to the overall body of management as an evolving knowledge.

While this magazine is the first of its kind launched by the Institute, I hope all readers will find the articles interesting and enriching. I like to thank all the contributors of the articles and place on record the valuable guidance and assistance of the editorial board.

I wish RIM Magazine every success in its pioneering efforts towards the promotion of management knowledge and practices. Further, I hope this Magazine will facilitate, bringing academicians and practitioners closer in their thoughts and actions and even contribute, through its own humble way, in enhancing image of the Institute as the management institute of the country.

Dasho (Dr.) Jigmi Singay

Chairman, RIM Board of Directors
