Management Development Programme on Managerial Communications (27th-31st October)

A five days seminar on managerial communications concluded today with the chief guest Dasho Dr. Jagar Dorji, National Council awarding the certificates to thirty-five participants from various ministries and agencies.
The managerial communications course provided the participants with an overview of strategies for communicating effectively in the public sector. The importance of clear, concise communications, the value of good questioning and listening skills, developing effective communications plans, and improving business writing and presentations were some of the topics that were covered during the course.
Professor Patricia Meek Lean form Humber College and Lecturer Pema Wngdhee from RIM were the resource persons for the seminar.
This course was organized jointly by the Humber College, Canada, RCSC and RIM as part of the Management Development Programme.

Management Development Programme on Project and Programme Management(13th to 17th October)

A five days seminar on Project and Programme Management for senior level managers concluded today with the chief guest Dasho Megraj Gurung, Director, RIM Board awarding the certificates to thirty seven participants from various ministries and agencies.
The seminar introduced the participants to results-based management (RBM) as an approach to project and programme management rooted in the achievement of results. It also equipped the participants with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully carry out RBM-based projects and programmes within their workplace. The course also explored the importance of incorporating the participation of citizens and other stakeholders in the project and programme management process, focusing on both the benefits and challenges of a participatory approach and the need to incorporate participation that is culturally appropriate.
Professor Kent Schroeder, International Project Director, Humber College, Toronto, Canada and Sr. Lecturer, Jit Tshering from RIM were the resource persons for the seminar.
The course was organized jointly by RCSC and RIM as part of the Management Development Programme.

Strategic Management Seminar for the Executives
A one-day Executive Seminar on Strategic Management was attended by about 20 executives comprising of Directors, Dzongdags, Managing Directors, and officials from the various ministries, agencies and the army.
Participants focused on different ways of looking at strategic development
The resource speaker was Professor Deborah Blackman of the University of Canberra, Australia. The opening ceremony was graced by the Secretary of the Ministry of Health Dasho (Dr) Gado Tshering while Dasho Megraj Gurung, member of the RIM Board of Directors was the chief guest for the closing ceremony. All the participants were awarded the certificates by the chief guest.
The seminar was organized jointly by the RCSC and the RIM as part of the Management Development Programme.

Strategic Management Seminar for Mid Level Managers
Thirty two participants from various ministries, agencies and dzongkhags completed their five days training on Strategic Management at the Institute today. They were from diverse professions comprising of Planning Officers, Human Resource Officers nad Administrative Officers.
Strategic Management is about process-based discipline aiming to formulate and implement organizational strategies which result in adding value and increasing organizational effectiveness.
Professor Deborah Blackman from the University of Canberra in Australia was the Resource Speaker for the 5 day seminar which commenced on 22nd September 2008 and concluded today.
The seminar was part of the Management Development Programme and was organized by the RCSC and the RIM.

|RIM Annual Rimdo
Sunday and Monday
The RIM two days annual rimdro started off today at the RIM lhakhang. Lopen Dawa Gyeltshen from Tashichho Dzong along with the monks from Semtokha Shedra, performed ‘phupa tordog, mikha, jabzhi and getay’ on the first day of the rimdo.
On the second day (September 22) they performed ‘tashi rabnay and jinser’. The two days rimdo concluded with the tshepamay wang to the faculties, staff and trainees. There were also a few family members of the faculties and staff who also came for the blessing.

According to the organizing committee, the rimdo was conducted for the benefits of all the sentient beings, for the well being of the Bhutanese people and the RIM family by helping to remove obstacles and hindrances.

Centenary Cleaning Campaign

The Director, faculties and staff of the Institute participated in the second round of the cleaning campaign organized in preparation to the Centenary Celebration by the city corporation.
The first round of cleaning campaign was done earlier in the month of April.

Welcome show for the fresher
Thursday; 3:30 pm
The Director, faculties, staff and the trainees witnessed the welcome show hosted for the new Geog Accountants who had joined the Institute on August 1.
It’s a tradition of the Institute to welcome the new RIM family members by hosting such shows to make the new members feel at home.
