PROGRAM:Management Development Program: 2008/09

Executive Seminar:          Personal Leadership and Self-management – the Foundation for Building Leadership and/or Management Capacity

Background:  Research evidence the world over proves that quality of leadership has significant impact on organizational effectiveness. However, this seminar will propose that “good leadership starts with oneself”. The chances that you will lead and manage others well is much higher when you can lead and manage your own life well. Hence, the seminar intends to enhance understanding of the need for developing “personal leadership and self management” capacity, in order to enable people to make the necessary changes and adjustments to become more competent and influential leaders and managers in their families, organizations and society. Nelson Mandela said: ‘you can not change society if you have not changed yourself’.
Outcomes:  Participants will obtain a better understanding of what it requires to build personal leadership and self-management capacity. They will have a broader view of leadership and the importance of e.g. living a more balanced life and taking care of themselves – the recipe is quite simple: “if I want to contribute my best, I have to be my best!”
Contents: How our own outlook (perspective) on life determines the kind of leader and manager we will be and become. The importance of values, a sense of purpose and using ‘mind-tools’ to help us being more effective and efficient. Lifelong learning, growth and renewal on different levels of intelligence: emotional, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual etc; Taking full responsibility to find how best to participate in the transformation of my word.
