Master of Professional Accounting(MPA)

In collaboration with the University of Canberra (UC), the Royal Institute of Management (RIM) will officially launch the Master in Professional Accounting (MPA) program on August 10, 2025. The program is set to commence in the academic year 2026 and is designed to provide a comprehensive pathway for individuals seeking to advance their careers in accounting or transition into the field. It is a two-year program
The MPA program is particularly suited for two key groups:

  1. Individuals holding undergraduate degrees in other fields who wish to switch careers and become professional accountants.
  2. Internationally educated accountants aiming to meet the minimum entry requirements for professional practice in Australia, as established by CPA Australia and CAANZ (Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand). The program is accredited by the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Australia (CMA Australia) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA-UK), ensuring global recognition and alignment with professional standards. The MPA is a full-time, two-year program that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, preparing graduates to navigate the complexities of the accounting profession.

Curriculum Overview

Key modules include: Accounting Systems and Practices; Business Finance; Business Law; Economics for Managers; Management Accounting; Research Methods; Corporate Accounting; Law of Business Associations; Quantitative Methods in Commerce; Revenue Law; Accounting and Decision Support Systems; Auditing and Assurance; Advanced Issues in Accounting; Risk Management; Entrepreneurship; Public Sector Performance Management; Law of Financial Services; Advanced Revenue Law; and Managing Government Finance

Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the MPA program will achieve the following key learning outcomes:
