Games and Sports
The Royal Institute of Management (RIM) offers a comprehensive range of sporting and recreational facilities that support the physical and mental well-being of its trainees, faculty, and staff. These well-structured and diverse sports infrastructures encourage active participation and provide opportunities for holistic development. Key facilities include:
- Football Field: The only grass-surfaced international-sized football field in Bhutan, featuring efficient drainage and ample warm-up areas. It is designed to provide a professional match environment with proper clearance and designated spaces for officials and substitutes.
- Basketball Courts: RIM boasts two basketball courts—one indoor and one outdoor. These courts are strategically located near the football field and are well-suited for hosting major championships and tournaments.
- Volleyball Court: Located below the staff quarters, this securely fenced concrete court was transformed by the Sports & Game Committee from a former basketball court to create a dedicated space for volleyball, making it a well-utilized facility.
- Table Tennis: RIM offers an indoor table tennis hall with two standard tables, located near the football ground. The institute actively encourages table tennis participation, aiming to grow the interest and number of players in this sport.
- Khuru (Traditional Darts): A culturally significant game in Bhutan, the Khuru field is located between the football field and basketball courts. This traditional sport is promoted by RIM to foster social interaction and preserve Bhutanese heritage.
- Gymnasium: The well-equipped gym is designed to cater to a variety of fitness routines, including strength training and cardiovascular exercises. It features machines like leg extension, hand extension, body solid weight stack, and multiple types of dumbbells, ensuring a comprehensive workout experience.
RIM’s Sports & Game Committee oversees all sporting activities, ensuring proper coordination and organization of events. The committee, led by an advisor and supported by male and female trainees, works to enhance the physical development of students through a diverse range of activities.
