About Chencho Dorji

Chencho Dorji is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Academic Programs with over two decades of experience in both academia and professional practice. He holds a Master of Economics (Business Administration) from Nagoya University, Japan, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the National Institute of Education (NIE) in Samtse, Bhutan. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the Australian Society of Accountants (ASA), Chencho has specialized in accounting and business education.

He joined the Royal Institute of Management (RIM) in 2021, where he teaches courses on Business Decision Making, Financial Accounting, and Management Accounting. Prior to this, Chencho served as a teacher at the Ministry of Education from 2006 to 2020, contributing to curriculum development in accounting and business. He also gained practical experience as an Accounts Officer at RIM in 2004.

Chencho’s research focuses on the adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in developing countries, particularly Bhutan. His work examines the challenges faced by developing nations in implementing these standards and how financial information affects business decisions. His research has been published in the Bhutan Journal of Management. He also explores integrated reporting and value relevance in accounting.

Chencho was awarded the MEXT Scholarship by the Government of Japan, which enhanced his global perspective on business practices. His contributions to teaching, research, and curriculum development continue to shape business education in Bhutan.
