About Ugyen Tshering

Ugyen Tshering is a Senior Lecturer in ICT at the Center for Academic Programs at the Royal Institute of Management, with over 25 years of experience in Information Technology and Information Systems education. Since 1999, he has specialized in a variety of fields, including instructional design, curriculum development, web development, database management, application development, digital literacy, and multimedia production.
Throughout his career, Ugyen has mentored a diverse range of learners, from postgraduate students to civil personnel. He focuses on utilizing technology to improve and enhance the learning process. His contributions include leading several impactful training programs, such as the digital literacy training for 500 Bhutanese individuals in 2021, as well as conducting workshops for the Department of Forest and Park Services between 2019 and 2020.
Ugyen’s expertise extends to several emerging technologies, including design thinking, the Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, and generative AI tools. In addition to his teaching role, he manages IT courses, coordinates the Diploma in IT program, and maintains websites, ensuring that academic content is delivered effectively.
Earlier in his career, Ugyen also gained experience in computer hardware service, having worked at Zambala Enterprise from 1996 to 1997. He holds certifications in IT instruction and information management. Outside of his professional life, Ugyen enjoys wildlife photography and exploring creative DIY projects.
