About DIT Course

  1. Course Description

The Diploma in Information Technology is a 2 tiered course designed to provide learners with application development and technical skills, and knowledge required to work in the Information Technology (IT) industry. Certificate level of the course with 120 credit points is awarded upon successful completion of 9 months of coursework (foundational IT units). If the learners exit after completion of certificate level course, they will acquire skills to maintain and troubleshoot PCs, maintain and troubleshoot Networks, and design websites with foundational computer graphic skills. Diploma level certificate with 240 credit points is awarded only upon the successful completion of the additional 9 months of advanced IT units.

The main objective is to produce graduates with a strong foundation not only in computer applications and IT skills, but in problem solving and communication skills.

The course is offered for the duration of 18 months with 6 terms on-campus classes.

  1. Course Aims and Outcomes 

Through Diploma of Information Technology, learners will develop specialized IT knowledge in programming, web development – such as PHP and content management systems, operating systems, networking, database modelling and programming. The course will also help you develop enterprise skills to maximize employment success and also enhance your professional-communication and academic-writing skills.

Graduates can look forward to job roles such as PC Support Technician, Web Developer, Application Developer, Network Administrator, Systems Analyst and Data Manager.

  1. Course Objectives

The objective of the course is to equip the students with computer application and IT skills, and knowledge that will enhance their IT career opportunities,work as a team in a bigger project or start an IT (hardware, software development) business.

  1. Learning Outcomes: 

On successful completion of the course, graduates should be able to:

  • Apply and implement hardware and software solution components into technology, sound product and service by managing, controlling, gauging, maintaining, and repairing IT products and services.
  • Formulate problem and express innovative solution using programming language, system design and database concepts to solve real world problems.
  • Demonstrate understanding of network principals and be able to apply network skills in real life situations
  • Become familiar with graphic design principles, web application skills, database skills and apply in web design
  • Create attractive layout and design to effectively communicate messages using desktop publishing and post-production tools.
  • Write business proposals, do requirement analysis to start IT business ventures with effective communication skills.
